My Un-Oscar Party

I celebrated the Oscars by watching the movie that should have won, but wasn't even nominated: Pride & Prejudice.

I've seen Crash, and it was okay, but -- like most movies set in Los Angeles -- not great. And it certainly didn't have a scene that compared to Lizzy and Mr. Darcy arguing in the rain, or Mr. Darcy striding through the morning fog.

As far as I'm concerned, all movies would benefit from having more Mr. Darcy scenes. Just think of how much better March of the Penguins would have been, if right in the middle of all that marching and death, it suddenly cut over to Mr. Darcy asking Lizzy to dance.

Speaking of March of the Penguins, I did see the bit where they brought the big stuffed penguins up on the stage with them to accept their Academy Award. How stupid would they have felt if they'd lost, and had to skulk out of the theatre with their giant stuffed penguins tucked under their arms?
